Cílem výstavy je poukázat na tradici, která je dodnes stále zachována. Není minulostí a je součástí moderní doby. Výstava uvede umělce, kteří ve své tvorbě prvky lidové kultury využívají. Zosobňují je svým vlastním způsobem a propojují je tak s obdobím modernity.

Tradice propisující se do umění? Kurátorka výstavy Karolína Slováková připravila pro expozici spoustu děl, ve kterých se objevují tradiční výšivky, květinový design, ale i modrotisk. Na výstavě nebudou chybět ani textilní interpretace a variace krojů a jejich materiálů. Výstava poukazuje na tradici, která je stále moderní. Integruje se do mnoha podob a zpracovává tak různé tradiční náměty, využívá k tomu několik prostředků. Na jednom výstavním prostoru se sejde několik českých umělců a dva zahraniční. Koncept tradičních slovanských témat ozvláštní díla čínské umělkyně Ming Lu, která působí v Berlíně. Z moravskoslezské umělecké scény představí svá díla hned čtyři autoři.

The aim of the exhibition is to highlight a tradition that is still preserved today. It is not a thing of the past and is part of modern times. The exhibition will present artists who use elements of folk culture in their work. They embody them in their own way and thus connect them with the modern era.

Tradition written into art? Karolína Slováková, the curator of the exhibition, has prepared a lot of works for the exhibition, in which traditional embroidery, floral design, and blueprinting appear. The exhibition will also include textile interpretations and variations of costumes and their materials. The exhibition highlights a tradition that is still modern. It integrates itself into many forms and thus processes various traditional themes, using several means to do so. Several Czech artists and two foreign artists will come together in one exhibition space. The concept of traditional Slavic themes will be enhanced by the works of the Chinese artist Ming Lu, who is based in Berlin. Four artists from the Moravian-Silesian art scene will present their works.

The exhibition can be seen in the 2nd floor of our Ostrava museum until 8 December 2023.
